Principal's Welcome Message
WELCOME TO kimbe international SCHOOL
KIS is well-known throughout West New Britain as a school of excellence producing graduates each year of a high calibre.
Our students achieve consistently high academic results because they’re engaged and connected. This is in due to our outstanding teachers, the alignment of family and school values, and a culture of inquiry and learning.
At KIS, learning starts at an early age through flexible and creative play-based programs in our Foundation Learning Centre. The relationships between students, staff, parents, and the community are all highly valued. Through these strong relationships and effective communication, each child’s needs are understood, and educators can cater to the individual. In our Primary School (Prep – Gr.6), core literacy and numeracy skills are developed using an evidence-based developmental learning and intervention method that focuses on targeted teaching informed by developmental assessment. Teachers use various forms of assessment to build each student’s learning profile and determine what is needed for academic excellence and personal growth. Through this approach, each student’s individual literacy and numeracy development is maximised, exceeding international benchmark levels.KIS Secondary School offers outstanding education for students

from Grade 7 to Grade 12. We hold high academic expectations for our students and teachers, with KIS students topping the province in the Gr.8, 10 and 12 National Examinations. We aim to foster curious minds, nurture potential, and create exceptional young men and women. Throughout their six-year journey in Secondary School, students will experience study and leadership opportunities that will help them learn, grow, and develop strength of character and ultimately provided with the guidance they need to reach the graduate pathway of their choice.
The Junior Secondary (Gr.7 – Gr.10) phase has a strong well-being element as students move from childhood into adolescence, providing the necessary tools for them to navigate through their teens into adulthood. It is a time of transition where the students move from the dependency and consistency of single-teacher classrooms to more independent schooling. The Grade 10 program is “futures oriented” and includes our Work Experience Program and an increasing focus on preparing for Senior Secondary subjects.
Our Senior Secondary (Gr.11 & 12) Program offers our students both the PNG and ACT Senior Secondary Certificates, with the later also providing our students with an ATAR score required for entry into tertiary study in Australia. The focus on public speaking, critical and analytical thinking, personal development, and global connections prepares our graduates to engage and succeed in a rapidly changing world.
At KIS, our academic programs are enhanced by an outstanding personal development program that helps students develop individual resilience, improve wellbeing, fulfil their potential and build strong core values.
